Engaged. Unyielding.
Events are moving too quickly. Government abuses we never dreamed of are taking place with impunity. Things that should have never been contemplated are being done in Our Name as a nation.
Anger, disgust, and disbelief. Real reaction to real injustice.
Our Food and Farm Caucus is just one small piece of the grassroots resistance. A resistance that is rising and growing. If you have found your place in the growing movement, thank you --- and keep going.
If you have started to find your footing, but are wondering what comes next, take heart. You are not alone. We are all trying to keep up. Please consider these suggestions on engagement:
1. Friends. If you are part of a circle of like-minded folks, lean in to the network for actions If you are feeling a bit alone, trust that you will make new friends as part of this great effort.
2. Organized. These events are too big to take on alone. By allying with groups you multiply your efforts.
3. Take a Leap. You are needed. Inaction is the paralyzer.
4. Social Media is Powerful. This is going to run against the grain, but quality social media and digital connections are 21st century multipliers. Don’t let anyone talk you down for being online and finding community. The protests and rallies are possible because we are connecting quickly and broadly.
5. Presence is Powerful Too. The corollary to #4 is to use Social media to lead you to Social connections.
6. Be As Partisan As You Can. We need more fellow citizens to overcome the reluctance and uncertainty of political activism. Join with Democrats, your local or nearest County Democratic party, a statewide Caucus like ours, seek out a local political group or Indivisible chapter or Trouble-Nation network.
7. …. or Engage in Civic Spaces. Some find their place in a more non-partisan Civic spaces. Civic groups, professional associations, local boards, community charities, churches and progressive faith-based networks --- these are all the institutions that actually make our nation strong. All are under attack. No matter where you serve or circulate, you can be a voice of resistance, values and action.
Our Harvest Blue website is dedicated to sharing opportunities.
