It’s STILL about NO!  Rally — Fri, August 2nd 5:30 in Wichita.

After-Event Summary

Wichita House District 100 in west Wichita surprised many with a solid turnout of diverse Wichitans and ten inspiring speakers who gathered to rally and celebrate the 2nd anniversary of Kansas “Just Say NO” victory Aug 2 2022. Music and a good breeze offset of the afternoon heat for cheering attendees.

Democratic candidates currently running for federal, state and Sedgwick County encouraged participants to honor the “Just Say No” in 2022, and then meet the challenge to “recommit to women’s health, Medicaid expansion for all Kansans, and strong, sustained families during this 2024 election season.

Mike McCorkle, campaigning to unseat Kansas Speaker of the House Dan Hawkins, gave the closing remarks by emphasizing the need to create a brighter future for all Kansans.

Original Announcement

It’s STILL about NO!  Rally is Friday, August 2nd 5:30 to 6:30pm.

August 2nd is the second anniversary of the Vote No initiative to defeat the amendment to the Kansas Constitution on August 2 2022 when nearly 60% of Kansans voted against restricting women’s choices for their own bodies.

This Kansas vote was the first in a series of states’ votes across the U.S. to clarify the rights of women versus government decisions.

The rally will be held at west Wichita’s Harvest Park, 9500 Provincial, which is near 9th Street west of Tyler Road.

All speakers advocated for Vote No! in the summer of 2022.  All support Medicaid Expansion, protecting women's rights, and full, public school funding. Speakers are candidates for city, county and statehouse in west Wichita and two speakers will precede House candidate Mike McCorkle, sponsor of the rally.
