Lawrence Moreno, Winfield, On Running for Ks Senate Dist 32
For 15 years, I've called this state home, witnessing firsthand the struggles and triumphs of its diverse communities. Along with my wife, born in Kansas on a Tampa farm, we know and appreciate the challenges facing our rural families and in our small towns. We understand the anxiety of parents worried about their children's education and families struggling to access healthcare.
Lawrence Moreno (D), Candidate for Kansas Senate Dist 32
I am Lawrence Moreno and I am running for the State Senate in District 32. Our district covers a wide swath of south-central Kansas, including Harper, Sumner, Cowley and parts of Butler Counties.
My own upbringing taught me the value of hard work and resilience, including periods of hardhsip when we had to tighten our belts and rely on a helping hand on occassion. It wasn't a handout we sought, but a chance to get back on our feet.
I feel privileged to have had a career in quality management, from which I am now retired. My career was built on finding solutions, building consensus, and getting things done. I can now bring that same practical approach, honed over years of experience, to the problems facing our state.
Together, a few of the challenges we can tackle include:
Rural Revitalization: We need to fighitng for fair markets and stable income for farmers, invest in sustainable practices and water conservation, and strengthen rural communities through expanded healthcare access, improved infrastructure, and educational opportunities for future generations.
Vibrant Small Towns: I will support our Main Streets by fostering small business growth, revitalizing public spaces, and ensuring access to essential services like healthcare and education.
Quality Education for All: Every child, regardless of whether they walk the halls of a large bustling school or a rural classroom, deserves a safe, well-resourced learning environment. Kansas must continute to invest in all our schools, ensuring equitable funding, empowering teachers, and providing equal access to opportunities and resources for all students.
Affordable Healthcare: Healthcare shouldn't be a luxury. We'll expand access, make it more affordable, and prioritize mental health services for all Kansans.
Economic Opportunity: A thriving Kansas needs good jobs and fair wages. Together, we'll attract businesses, invest in infrastructure, and support workforce development to create a strong economy that benefits everyone.
